It's been several weeks since the garlic harvest but it is now fully cured and hand trimmed ready for culinary use and for your fall planting.
I have been seed saving and growing this Great Northern White hardneck garlic for the past five years. I practice better than organic gardening. There are absolutely no sprays or commercial fertilizers used in my beds.
Seed garlic for your fall planting is available. One pound $20. Buy local and save. Online prices are currently $35 on average per pound plus shipping.
Culinary garlic is also available. If you've never eaten fresh garlic you're in for a treat! One pound $15. I find that my garlic if properly stored will last an entire year until the following season's harvest.
Did you know that 70% of the world's retail garlic supply is imported from China? A quick Google search will provide information as to why you may want to avoid it (especially if you've been concerned about cyclospora).
