WHY THE '60s EDITION
VW revealed the Beetle Convertible at the 2012 LA Auto Show with three throwback editions: '50s, '60s and '70s. The '60s Edition paired the turbo engine with Denim Blue paint and a matching two-tone leather interior. It's also the last Beetle. VW ended production in 2019. Expect lots of thumbs-ups at stoplights.
WHAT IT HAS
- Power soft top
- Fender premium audio with subwoofer
- Heated front seats
- Retro gauge pod on the dash: oil temp, clock and boost
- Two gloveboxes, including a dash-top "Kaeferfach" like the original Beetle's
- Keyless entry and push-button start
- Bluetooth and AUX input
- Leather steering wheel and shift knob
- Chrome trim inside and out
- Sport-tuned suspension
- ...and yes the A/C blows cold
HOW IT'S BEEN KEPT
- Garaged since 2020
- Soft top treated with RaggTopp fabric protectant every spring
- Oil changed every 5,000 miles, with regular fluid checks
- DSG fluid changed on schedule (every 40,000 miles). Next due at 140,000.
- Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus II tires, installed Nov 2020. Good tread, rotated regularly.
- At 103,000 miles: intake valve carbon cleaning, plus a new water pump (a common leak point on this engine)
- July 2026: timing cover and serpentine belt service, plus a new front crankshaft seal
- Timing chain stretch checked regularly: -2.41° (May 2023), -2.54° (Mar 2024), -2.62° (Jul 2026). Well within spec and barely moving.
- Service records available on request
WHAT'S NOT PERFECT
I'd rather you read it here than find it on the test drive.
- Paint peeling on the lower front bumper. The fog light lens on that side is cracked.
- One headlight lens is cloudy, with some condensation inside
- Small chip and uneven gap where the front fender meets the bumper
- Shallow dent in the rear fender just behind the door
- Crease and scuffs on the rocker panel below the door
- Soft top shows fading and fold marks
Close-ups of all of it are in the photos. The price accounts for it.

WHY I'M SELLING
Our family grew, and a two-door convertible doesn't fit two car seats all that well. We bought a minivan.
