WHAT MAKES THIS ONE DIFFERENT
Hydraulic thumb + DUAL auxiliary hydraulic circuits.
Most 28Z3s came with a single circuit — the second was a factory option. With two, you run the thumb and a tilt bucket at the same time. No changing hoses every time you switch attachments. If you've worked a single-circuit machine, you already know what this is worth.
Extra return line.
Separate hammer return straight to tank instead of back through the control valve. Run a breaker without cooking your spool seals.
VDS tilting upper carriage.
The upper cab tilts up to 15 degrees, compensating grades to 27%. Dig genuinely vertical on a sidehill instead of fighting the machine. Rare option, expensive new, and a serious advantage on any sloped ground.
Long stick and factory counterweight.
Extra reach and depth over a base machine, plus 115 kg of added counterweight for up to 15% more lift stability.

You'll see missing paint and some surface rust on the implements in the photos. I could have hit them with a rattle can and made them look showroom fresh, but I'd rather you see exactly what you're buying. It's surface rust from sitting, nothing more — the cutting edges are near new and everything is in excellent condition underneath.
Coupler is a custom JD35 wedge style. Worth knowing up front: it isn't the factory Wacker pattern, but that's an advantage here — 35G-pattern attachments are everywhere in this province and cheap used, so expanding the setup is easy and inexpensive.
GOOD STARTER MACHINE FOR A CONTRACTOR
At 3,070 kg, this is about the largest excavator you can put on a deck trailer behind a pickup and stay inside BC's 4,600 kg Class 5 towing limit. No heavy trailer endorsement, no tilt deck, no hired float — a three-quarter-ton and a deck trailer and you're working. Anything a size up and that changes. Confirm your own setup with ICBC.
