We are a retired couple living in a nice single family home in Kingman, AZ.
Recently we had to put down our wonderful, beloved, rescue 2 1/2 year old French Bulldog Noodle, due to suffering a terminal case of IVDD (inter-vertebral disc disease). We got Noodle when he was only 15 weeks old, and he was one of the most amazing dogs we've ever had in the 38 years we've been together. He was super lovable with everyone he met, and every dogs best pal at the Centennial Dog Park. Putting him to sleep was one of the hardest, most heart wrenching, things we've ever had to do.
We thought Noodle would be our last, because by the time he passed from old age, we'd be too old to start again. Clearly fate has another plan. So, now we're looking for a new "Fur Baby," to give our love to, and reaching out to The Community to help us find the right one.
Because of the overwhelming health concerns, we can not chance another Frenchie, nor are we willing to try any of the breeds prone to IVDD. However, we may be willing to try non-Frenchy or non-Dachsund mixes, depending on temperament.
Ultimately, we're looking for a mix breed puppy (male or female) that will be 20 pounds or less full grown, shows signs of being friendly with other animals (our daughters all have pets), and wont be a major grooming responsibility. Poodle mixes would be OK because we can clip them ourselves, but we don't want a breed with heavy undercoats or super long fur requiring daily brushing. But, we are definitely not fans of any of the hair-less breeds. I know it seems like we're asking a lot, but we are now very clear on our limitations. AND that little boy or girl will be Spoiled Rotten! Plus, we are firm believers in spay & neutering, and willing to take on that responsibility.
