Tipping (Kauai)

It’s amazing to me how many places now have a tipping system just for simply existing. If someone is making my coffee or serving me, I’ll gladly tip. But if you’re simply doing your job by handing me a soda or ringing up my groceries, I’m not tipping. Your employer needs to pay you more.

Fast food restaurants don’t get tips. Grocery stores don’t get tips. So here’s my tip: stop going to places that try to guilt you into tipping.

I’m not going to name all the places in Kapa‘a that do this, but it’s honestly embarrassing for the businesses that do. What do I know, though? I’m just keeping my money in my pocket.
