This candle holder was created in the historic Henry C. Mercer's tile factory - now a National Historic Landmark - in Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1898, the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works produced tiles for hundreds of private and public buildings, such as the John D. Rockefeller Estate in New York, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, National Press Club in Washington, and the State Capitol in Harrisburg, PA. Since reactivation in 1974, all reissues have been dated to identify them as such.

This sconce was created in 1975 and features a variation of Mercer’s beloved image "Silva Vocat" (“The forest calls”). As a sconce it is designed to be hung on a wall, however it sits perfectly well on a flat surface. $95 cash.
