Wao Kele LLC is seeking a reliable, hardworking Landscape Laborer to assist with the ongoing maintenance and improvement of our property in Wailuku, Maui. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is comfortable performing physical labor, and takes pride in maintaining beautiful landscapes, agricultural spaces, and estate grounds.
This position may begin as either an independent contractor (1099) or employee role, depending on experience and qualifications. Independent contractors must have or be willing to obtain their own business liability insurance before beginning work.
English proficiency is required, as this position involves daily communication with the team, following safety procedures, and understanding work instructions.
Responsibilities:
- Weed control and general landscape maintenance
- Mowing, cutting grass, and weed whacking
- Digging holes for planting, irrigation, fencing, and landscape projects
- Assisting with planting trees, shrubs, flowers, and groundcover
- Nursery support, including moving plants, watering, potting, and organizing inventory
- Hauling soil, mulch, gravel, and landscaping materials
- Cleaning and maintaining pathways, planting beds, and work areas
- Assisting with farm, garden, and property improvement projects
- Safely operating landscaping tools and equipment
- Supporting the team with general outdoor labor as needed
- Assisting with event setup and breakdown, guest preparations, moving materials, and other property-related projects
- Maintaining clean, organized work trucks, trailers, tools, and equipment
- Organizing work zones, storage areas, nurseries, maintenance yards, and project staging areas
- Ensuring tools and materials are properly stored and ready for use
- Participating in daily cleanup to maintain a safe and organized work environment
Qualifications:
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
- Previous landscaping, farming, nursery, construction, or outdoor labor experience preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and willing to assist with a variety of property-related projects
- Valid driver's license required
- Must have or be willing to obtain business liability insurance (required for independent contractors)
