For sale: 2004 Mercury 8hp 4-stroke outboard, serviced by a Mercury dealer a few years back where it ran and idled great. Good compression, but the oil has shown a milky color on and off — they thought it was likely residual from when the motor got swamped once, though I haven’t chased it further, so it’s priced accordingly. It has sat unused for two years and will want fresh oil, an impeller, and likely a carb cleaning before regular use. Solid little motor for someone comfortable turning a wrench — these Mercury 4-strokes sell for $900–1,200 running clean.
