I recently purchased this 2012 Specialized Status as a frame only from eBay and fully refreshed the frame with new bearings, new paint and new shock. I built the bike as a single speed park bike to mess around on at my local DH park. As it turns out I think I am better off sticking to a trail bike. This Status is very very capable and fun, but at 40 years old, i don’t have the skills, speed, or bravery to ride thi bike to really make use of it. As I am a bike mechanic and lover of all things bikes, it was a fun project and I’m just happy to move it along to someone else.

Build specs:

Frame: 2012 Status size large. New bearings, new Marzocchi Bomber CR with MRP 500lb progressive spring. The shock is 8.5x2.5 (rather than the stock 8.75x2.75) making the bike a bit slacker and lower, and 180mm of travel rather than the original 200.

Fork: RockShox Zeb R 27.5 180mm. I bought this fork 2nd hand for the build. It is functioning well and feels great.

Wheels:
Front - Race Face AR35 27.5 hand built on basic 15x110 Shimano hub. Teravail Kessel 27.5 x 2.5 Ultra Durable casing.
Rear - Stan’s Sentry MK3 26 hand built on Shimano XT hub converted to bolt on for extra stiffness. Schwalbe Magic Mary Gravity 26 x 2.35.
(Front and rear are tubeless)

Brakes: Sram Code R. The brakes were in rough shape when I got them, but I fully rebuilt the levers and calipers with new master cylinders, pistons and seals. While they may look rough, they feel great and work perfectly now. Also brand new Sram metallic pads. Tektro 203mm rotor on front and Magura 180mm on back.

Drivetrain: Race Face Aeffect R 165mm cranks with 34t chain ring. DMR 16t single speed kit, and Shimano Alfine chain tensioner. The chain line is not perfect, but it works well enough and is very quiet.

Cockpit: Gusset 38mm rise 31.8 handlebar (cut to 760). Trail1 Viking 40mm stem, OneUp Jackson Goldstone grips, mishmash of Cane Creek and FSA headset, WTB Volt saddle.
