We're growing and looking for an **experienced Roofing & Siding Service Technician** to join our team immediately.
We're looking for someone who knows their way around a roof, understands exterior construction, can troubleshoot problems, and takes pride in doing the job right the first time.
## Position Overview
The Roofing & Siding Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential and light commercial exterior systems, including roofing, siding, gutters, flashing, soffit, and fascia.
Unlike a traditional installation position, this role focuses primarily on **service calls, leak investigations, troubleshooting, warranty repairs, and smaller exterior repair projects**.
The ideal candidate is a skilled, independent problem-solver who can identify the source of an issue, determine the appropriate repair, and complete quality work while maintaining a professional relationship with our customers.
## Key Responsibilities
**Roofing & Leak Repairs**
- Diagnose and repair roof leaks on asphalt shingle, metal, and low-slope roofing systems.
- Inspect and repair flashing around chimneys, skylights, walls, valleys, and roof penetrations.
- Identify installation defects, storm damage, and maintenance-related issues.
- Complete shingle replacements, flashing repairs, sealant applications, and other roofing repairs.
- Identify potential issues beyond the immediate repair area and report findings to management.
**Siding & Exterior Repairs**
- Troubleshoot and repair vinyl siding, fiber cement, and other exterior cladding systems.
- Diagnose water intrusion related to siding, windows, doors, flashing, and exterior trim.
- Replace damaged siding panels, J-channel, trim, soffit, and fascia.
- Perform minor gutter and downspout repairs and adjustments.
- Identify improper installation methods and recommend corrective repairs.
**Service Calls & Customer Communication**
- Travel to scheduled service appointments throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area.
- Investigate customer concerns and determine the source of reported problems.
- Explain findings and recommended repairs clearly and professionally.
- Complete warranty-related service work and general repair requests.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including before-and-after photographs.
- Communicate repair findings, material needs, and follow-up requirements to the service department.
- Ensure jobsites are clean, safe, and left in professional condition.
## Qualifications & Requirements
- **Prior hands-on roofing and/or siding experience required.**
- Strong knowledge of exterior construction, flashing, waterproofing, and repair techniques.
- Ability to independently diagnose leaks and exterior problems.
- Comfortable working on ladders, roofs, and elevated surfaces.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to work independently.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude when interacting with customers.
- Ability to document work using a smartphone or company-provided software.
- Physically capable of lifting materials, climbing ladders, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience with both roofing and siding repairs.
- Knowledge of asphalt shingles, metal roofing, and flat roofing systems.
- Experience with roof-to-wall flashing, kickout flashing, and water intrusion diagnostics.
- Previous experience handling service or warranty calls.
- Familiarity with exterior building codes and manufacturer installation requirements.
