Drywall/Sheetrock & Attic Stair Sub – Steady Work for Houston AC Co
What-A-Treat Heating & Cooling is a licensed Houston HVAC contractor. We replace complete residential systems — furnace, condenser, coil — and a lot of those jobs need light remodel work that we'd rather hand to someone who does it every day. We're looking for one or two reliable subs for steady, repeat work. Keep your other customers; this is fill-in work that stays consistent.
THE WORK
- Replace pull-down attic stairs — including enlarging and reframing the rough opening when the new ladder or our equipment needs it, trim-out, ready for paint
- Sheetrock repair and replacement — ceiling and wall cutouts for ductwork, returns, and equipment access; tape, float, and texture match (orange peel / knockdown) so it's paint-ready
- Occasional small carpentry — attic equipment platforms and decking, return-air chases, furnace-closet framing or door adjustments
- Paint touch-up is optional — tell us if you do it
Typical job is a half day to a day, mostly ceilings and attics. Houston attics in July — you know what you're signing up for.
HOW IT WORKS
- We try to schedule you out to have as much notice as possible. Occasionally we will ask for assistance sooner than that.
- We handle the homeowner, the sale, and the collection. You never chase a homeowner for money — we pay you.
- Materials: we supply the ladder and drywall, you bring consumables / you supply and bill at cost with receipts
- Paid per job at agreed flat rates, within 7 days of completion by direct deposit
- First job is a paid trial. If the work and the communication are good, you're on the list.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- 1099 subcontractor with your own truck, tools, and ladders — W-9 required
- General liability insurance (we'll need a COI naming us as additional insured) [— if you don't carry it yet, we can point you to an agent]
- Texture matching that disappears after paint — if your patches show, this isn't the gig
- Clean, respectful work in occupied homes: drop cloths, shoe covers, haul your own debris, no smoking on the property
- You stand behind your work — a patch that cracks or texture that flashes, you come back and fix it
- Same-day replies to texts, and you show up when you say you will
