When we raise our children, most of us realize unsavory people exist, and we do our best to prevent negative characters from leading our offspring astray.
But…have you considered the same dangers when it comes to your pets? Probably not. Even those with the best of intentions for their fur-babies have most likely never feared for their pet around the man who drinks one-too-many after work or the long-haired trenchcoat wearing sleazeball with a history of stealing underwear off the clotheslines in the neighborhood or the woman down the street yelling profanity from her porch when children linger too long in front of her house. And…. most of us have no need to worry. It is very unlikely that we would ever come home to find our cute little Fluffy sitting on our couch with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, a bag of Cheetos spilled everywhere while happily watching porn on the TV with the volume turned up to the max. But sometimes, we ought to worry.
If this story opens even one pet owner’s eyes and prevents even one tragedy, then it has served its purpose.
I inherited a pretty little girl after friend of mine passed away. She became a member of my household and blended into my existing pack with ease, playing with the other dogs, happy to have friends of her own kind to bond with. However, just as she seemed to settle into our routine, one huge issue became apparent, and I believe it stems from her previous home.
My late friend had a heart of gold, and while he would give a stranger the shirt off his back and the last change in his pocket, he could not resist the company of women of ill repute. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a shortage in our area, and most nights, there would be a trollop of a different flavor on his arm when he staggered in the door at night. I believe this furry little canine has seen more than she should have, and sadly, she is now a whore.
It was like she knew that there were only 10 days left before my big handsome boy would never be on an episode of Maury or fall victim to a child support claim, and the clock was ticking. Just shy of visitation through a pane of glass, every physical precaution was taken and every contraception was used. Unfortunately, staying awake 24/7 is unfeasible for me, and after being as vigilant as possible, I had to get a little sleep. Regrettably, like horny teenagers after prom, virginity was lost on one rainy night.
I am not looking for sympathy or pity. I am telling this story in an effort to prevent a tragedy like this happening to anyone else, and I am hoping I can find help breaking this cycle. I am trying to find 9 wholesome, family-oriented fur-ever homes that will look past the transgressions of their mother. Only serious interest will be considered. If you are interested and can provide a virtuous permanent home, reach out to me for pics and more information. They will be 8 weeks old on October 11.
