This is a hard post to make. I absolutely love this guy. Anyone that knows me and him knows what has went into him. This was my dream to raise a colt and he has been amazing. This post is due to no fault of his own deapite what some may think. He has so much personality, and potential! However he was supposed to be a step up horse for my 9 year old to barrel race and he isnt going to be finished in time. Her current barrel horse is going to have to be done after this season and there is just no way this colt will be ready to compete by next season. For that reason only is why he is up for discussion. We thought we would have more time but unfortunately thats just not the case. Her current horse is just done.
This guy has a great start.
With the right finish hes going to make an amazing horse. He is so smart and willing to please!
He self loads and unloads, leads, ties, stands for fly spray. Lunges both directions. Has an amazing whoa on ground and in saddle. He backs up on ground and in saddle, lifts feet, stands to be saddle and mounted. Takes a bit like a champ. He comes when he is called, very friendly for a stud.
Will step up onto see saw bridge stop, back off etc.
Will walk over tarps and through large hoops.
Have used to open gates, still needs some practice but again hes 2.
He has a puppy dog personality, he will come on the porch and walk in the house if you let him lol
He is VERY light in the mouth. He understands leg cues and seat position. He WTC, can be a little lazy to transition but hes a colt just needs more practice. Besides im not pushing hard due to his age. He Stops like a champ. steps over obstacles, hops over obstacles, has been to shows (He really doesnt need to go back to shows until hes gelded). Has walked and trotted the barrel and pole pattern. He will cut the barrels nicely and weaves the poles nice. Especially for the little amount of experience and exposure he has. (I have videos) Been on trail rides. He would much rather hop over puddles then go through still working on that.
Has done some obstacle corses. (I have videos)
I have started teaching him to lay down, you can sit on him when he lays down and he listens when u ask him to get up. (I have a video)
I have only rode him bareback a couple times, he did fine.
We have shot rifles over his back, under him, etc. But its been a while and hes currently in his spooky phase so not sure how he would do rn but if u want me to ill try it again (I have a video of him when younger)
Hes 2 so hes still a little spooky and still needs more miles.
Inflatable cows freak him out 🤷♀️ he will rare and buck like its going to eat him. He has thrown me over me pulling the inflatable towards him. We did end up working past it that day but definitely will need work with the evil inflatable cow.
Still needs a little more work with being patient while having his back feet done.
No this is not a kids horse.
He needs an experienced rider to finish him.
He a big toddler he will nip if you let him get by with it.
Sometimes he has little temper tantrums.
He has rared and bucked in the arena with me. He has rared at other horses (i have videos)
Im not trying to sugar coat him in anyway, he definitely needs finished and cut!
***************************************
He is a double crypt orchid stud
So he acts like a stud! He will mount!
⚠️He rares and strikes like a stud when he gets worked up. ⚠️ you can see it coming most of the time bc he arches his neck and starts prancing, hollering typical stud behavior. Sometimes you can get him to snap out of it but other times he still feels the need to show out for the other horses.
We have taken him to a few fun shows and he can be controlled and listen with patience but he gets soooo worked up around other horses, hes a lot. You have to be experienced to handle him at a show. Some shows hes great, others he has been an idiot.
Yes even with that bad im still asking what im asking bc once you see him when hes good you will understand its that simple.
And once hes gelded hes gonna be so so so good.
He has an excellent foundation and is very willing to learn. With maturity, consistent training, and eventual gelding, I believe he has the potential to make a very nice performance or trail horse.
I was told to wait till he turns 3 just to make sure he doesnt drop late, if I still have him at 3 he will be getting gelded. And his price will increase. His bday is in March. Bc once this stud bs is gone hes going to be one hell of a horse. Honestly he already is for him to only be 2 with a stud brain.
Despite the bs stud crap i would never dream of getting rid of him if my daughter didnt need a different step up horse... I wouldn't even be making this post. I will not let him go for cheap and I will want a buy back contract signed. I am absolutely going to regret letting this one go. He will not go to just anyone.
If you wanna know anything just ask. I probably have videos bc im obsessed with this dude.
I will also want to stay in touch.. and ima cry when he leaves just FYI
He will continue to be worked with and ridden.
You dont wanna miss out on this guy. If I can figure out a way to keep him while still getting my daughter what she needs, I will. So no your not going to see me drastically lowering his price or just taking any offer. He is worth what im asking and his value will double once gelded.
If you dont see his value then dont buy him its that simple. Dont waste my time. I have never wanted to keep a horse so bad but im a parent so my kid comes 1st.
He is not just some colt to me hes my little buddy.
