Enjoy having the entire ground floor all to yourself in this tropical rain forest, just a short drive to Hilo.
This is a half acre property beaming with local plants and animals. There are dozens of varieties of fruit trees that you will have full access to including:
Tangelo, Avocado, Cacao, Abiu, Starfruit, Orange, Jaboticaba, Mango, Lemon, Bananas, Rambutan and more... There's always something in season throughout the year! We are also always expanding our garden beds with fresh vegetables and are growing different herbs to make our own teas.
You are also welcome to enjoy the short walk down to the neighborhood waterfall.
Or borrow a foam surf board and head to the beach located 8 minutes away by car.
If you're up for the nice walk, there is another beach only a 20 minute walk away.
We do have 10ish animals on the property so animal lovers are an absolute must! Animals roaming during the day: 2 dogs, 3 outdoor cats, 1 pig, 2 ducks, 2 small tortoises.
Recent upgrades to expect: deep cleaning, refinished floors, additional sound proofing, solar energy, more kitchenette shelving and counter space (not pictured), and privacy walls for the outdoor shower (not pictured)!
This is a duplex comfortable for one or two people. My husband & I live upstairs. We try to be incredibly mindful of noise especially during peaceful hours 10pm to 7am, but since we do live here full time, this setup works best for tenants who aren't especially sensitive to everyday household noise.
The main bedroom comes with a queen size bed, and the extra bedroom has a pull out full size mattress and a clothing rack for extra storage.
We hope this is a place for you to recharge, and feel at home.
We are trying to live as sustainable as possible and for that reason we rely on solar for 90% of our electricity. We are committed to using renewable energy and using it to help us live more in harmony with nature. In the case of a natural disaster taking the power out, multiple energy sources make it so our home doesn't experience a black out or power outages.
We recently upgraded to a faster, and more dependable internet provider.
About us: We both value our community and sanctuary in equal measure :) my name is Carmen and I am more reserved until I get to know people a little better, but my husband, Taymoor, loves talking to everyone (he's an amazing tour guide). He's always ready to have conversations about fascinating subjects from astronomy to zen, he's also a musician. I spend a lot of my days completing my TCM school work, crafting art projects, and caring for our animals.
We love cooking and sharing delicious vegetarian food.
The space will be available for a walk through starting September 14th.
We look forward to hearing from you!
