Building a More Self-Sufficient Future — One Animal, One Garden, One Step at a Time.
What would happen if the power went out for an extended period of time? What if grocery store shelves became empty, supply chains were interrupted, or the conveniences we've grown accustomed to were suddenly unavailable?
Would you know how to provide for yourself?
I've decided it's time to put some of the old-fashioned skills of self-sufficiency back into practice!
I own a piece of land in Sierra Blanca, Texas, where I'm developing my personal Bug Out Homestead — a place dedicated to sustainable living, raising our own food, animal husbandry, gardening, and learning to live with greater independence from the systems we depend on every day.
My vision includes:
🐐 Goats for milk and dairy products.
🐔 Chickens for fresh eggs and food production.
🐇 Rabbits for sustainable meat production and breeding.
🐖 Pigs and other livestock as the homestead grows.
🌱 Gardens, medicinal herbs, fruit trees, and food preservation.
☀️ Solar power, alternative energy, rainwater collection, and practical off-grid solutions.
♻️ Recycling, composting, and making the most of the resources available.
This isn't about fear, political affiliation, or expecting the worst. It's about being prepared, learning useful skills, becoming more self-reliant, and creating something that can sustain itself as much as possible.
I'd love to see more people taking an interest in these skills before they're needed rather than waiting until they're necessary.
I'm funding this project personally, but I know that sometimes it takes a little help from others to turn a vision into reality.
If you believe in food independence, sustainable homesteading, preparedness, or simply preserving the knowledge and skills that previous generations took for granted, I'd welcome your encouragement and support.
Whether it's sharing knowledge, offering practical advice, contributing supplies, lending a hand, or making a small financial contribution toward getting this homestead established, every bit of support can help move this project forward.
I'm not asking anyone to buy into anything or promising anything in return. I'm simply inviting people who share these interests to be part of the journey.
If this resonates with you, please reach out through Craigslist. I'd be happy to share more about the project and how you can help.
The best time to learn self-sufficiency is before you need it.
Let's start building a more prepared, capable, and independent future!
