We are replacing this gas insert with a wood burning insert. It works great. We heated our whole 1,700 SQ FT house with it. It has a thermostat that lights the flame at the temperature you set. It also has a blower with its own thermostat control that comes on whenever it heats up enough and shuts off whenever it cools down enough.
