Years ago, I spent a few years fly fishing for spring chinook in B.C. I caught a few, but then, I got too old for it. At the time, I bought and used a great spey rod that I no longer need. It's a Echo TR9140 14-ft, 9 wt rod. I've used it three or four times, and it is basically like new. I still fish for steelhead, but this rod is a bit of an overkill for steelhead unless, perhaps, you're in a situation where you need to make very long casts. Echo doesn't make this rod anymore and their closest comparable rod is the King 9130, which retails for $625. In fact, 14-foot, 9 wt spey rods are hard to find nowadays, but when I used on the Skeena (i.e. big water), it was perfect. It would also be great for Atlantic salmon.
