We are an independently owned cocktail bar in the heart of Greenwich Village seeking an experienced Head Bartender to lead our bar program and help shape the next stage of our business.
We are looking for a hospitality professional who is equally comfortable behind the bar, leading a team, training staff, developing cocktails, and ensuring that every guest receives exceptional service.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who cares deeply about cocktails, spirits, hospitality, and the details that separate a good bar from a great one.
We're looking for someone who has:
• At least 4–5 years of bartending experience in a high-quality New York cocktail bar, restaurant, or hospitality venue
• Significant experience working high-volume cocktail service
• Strong knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails and proper cocktail technique
• Extensive knowledge of spirits, particularly bourbon, rye, Scotch, and other whiskey
• A strong working knowledge of wine, beer, and other beverage categories
• Experience training, mentoring, and managing bartenders
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• A polished, professional, and personable approach to hospitality
• The ability to maintain composure and lead effectively during busy service
• A flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional last-minute private events
The role includes:
• Leading the bar team during service
• Maintaining exceptionally high standards for cocktails, technique, presentation, and hospitality
• Training new and existing bartenders
• Helping develop and refine our cocktail and spirits program
• Managing bar prep, mise en place, inventory, and organization
• Maintaining consistency and quality across every shift
• Working closely with management on staffing, scheduling, and service standards
• Helping manage private events and special programming
• Ensuring compliance with NYC liquor laws, health regulations, and responsible-service practices
• Contributing ideas and taking ownership of the continued growth of the bar
You'll thrive here if you are:
• A genuine hospitality professional—not simply someone who knows how to make drinks
• A confident leader who leads by example
• Curious, creative, and constantly interested in learning
• Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized
• Comfortable giving and receiving feedback
• Someone who takes pride in both the guest experience and the condition of the bar
• Interested in growing with an independent business rather than simply working another shift
What we offer:
• A strong bar team
• Great guests
• Managerial support and teamwork
• Good work environment
• Benefits
• 401k
We're looking for someone who wants to take ownership of a bar program and become an important part of its identity and growth.
