SHOTOKAN is looking for a melodic or distorted vocalist in the Harrisonburg / Staunton / Waynesboro / Charlottesville area.
We’re a serious original heavy band currently operating as a three-piece: guitarist/clean vocalist (24), guitarist (32), and bassist/support vocals (33) experimenting with the idea of bringing in another vocalist/frontman. The goal is to build this into a full live band, play shows, release music, and keep growing long-term. Our sound is heavy, atmospheric, riff-based, and progressive without being random.
Influences/general lane: Mastodon, The Sword, Baroness, Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, King Buffalo, TOOL, Gojira, Deftones, Wheel, High on Fire, Red Fang, REZN, and Howling Giant.
**Looking for:**
**Additional Vocalist
* Unique sound
* Comfortable with harmonies/sharing vocal duties with another singer
* Able to musically adjust to different songwriting genres and sensibilities
* Endurance to play at least 20-30min long setlists
For this role: reliability, communication, and interest in serious original music are required. Creative input is welcome, but the project already has a clear vision. Demos will be sent once we’re talking so you can hear the material and know what you’re getting into.
Not looking for flakes, ego trips, hard-party chaos, or people who only want to jam once every few months. We’re also intentionally human-first/anti-AI when it comes to writing and creative identity. Basically: be reliable, be cool, and care about the music.
Send your instrument, influences, availability, and any clips/recordings if you have them.
