The Opportunity
Pureganic Cafe is seeking a hands-on, dependable Cafe Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operations at our plant-based, vegan, gluten-free and kosher cafe in Harrison, NY. Our ideal manager is outstanding with customers, organized and confident leading staff, and knowledgeable about commercial kitchen workflows, food safety, inventory and order fulfillment. This is an operating and leadership position—not a chef or recipe-development position.
Primary Responsibilities
• Lead front-of-house service: greet guests, resolve issues, manage order accuracy and maintain a welcoming, efficient cafe.
• Supervise, train, schedule, coach and hold front-counter and support employees accountable for attendance, quality and performance.
• Coordinate front counter, kitchen and delivery workflow so dine-in, takeout and online orders are prepared, checked and dispatched correctly.
• Oversee kitchen operating standards—including sanitation, safe food handling, prep readiness, storage, labeling, and communication with kitchen personnel—without serving as the chef.
• Monitor inventory, supplies, grab-and-go display, food presentation, waste and stock replenishment; identify ordering needs.
• Manage opening/closing checklists, cash/POS reconciliation, cleanliness, equipment issues and daily operational reporting.
• Use the ordering/POS system and report key results, recurring problems and corrective actions to the owner.
• Step in wherever needed during busy periods, including customer service and hands-on support; coordinate local delivery operations and cover deliveries in the company car when necessary.
Required Qualifications
• At least 3 years of restaurant or cafe operations experience, including meaningful front-of-house supervisory responsibility.
• Working knowledge of commercial kitchen operations, food safety, sanitation, kitchen-to-counter coordination and inventory practices; cooking expertise is not required.
• Strong leadership, communication, conflict-resolution and multitasking skills; demonstrated punctuality and reliability.
• Comfort with point-of-sale systems, online orders, cash handling, staff scheduling and basic operational reporting.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule across our Sunday–Friday operating days, including opening and closing shifts.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record for occasional coverage of deliveries.
Preferred
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
• ServSafe Manager or comparable food-safety credential.
• Experience in a fast-casual cafe, healthy-food concept or delivery-heavy restaurant.
What Success Looks Like
Customers are delighted; employees are on time, trained and accountable; orders and deliveries run smoothly; the cafe is consistently clean and stocked; kitchen and front counter work as one team; and the owner receives concise, accurate daily updates.
