Admiration was one of the most popular brands of the Duncan Coffee Company , which began in 1918 in Houston, Texas. That first year, Duncan came out with Admiration Coffee, calling it “The Cup of Southern Hospitality.”
The brand became a big part of Texas life.
These cups are very old, probably from the 1930s or very early 1940s.
They were made by the Sutherland Paper Company of Kalamazoo, Michigan (where I bought these cups). Sutherland started in 1917 and specialized in waxed butter cartons and food containers. They later started making paper plates.
Occasionally, the company made specialized products, like these six cups.
The cups are made of liquid resistant cardboard. They are 3 inches high and 3 inches wide at the top rim.
The design is really colorful, with a colored illustration of a coffee plant next to the Admiration name.
As you can see from the photos, the cups have never been used.
Because I live in Michigan, fairly near where these cups were made many years ago, we can easily arrange shipping.
