She’s had many miles behind her and has primarily been used for trail and arena riding.
As she's gotten older though, she's become less willing to work, and retirement is in her best interest! She may still allow an occasional short, easy bareback ride, but she is not suitable for regular riding, high-energy work, or demanding activities. She has a very funny and spunky personality, definitely the mare attitude.
This girl is very high-spirited and not beginner-friendly. An experienced horse owner familiar with Thoroughbred-type horses and their care requirements would be preferred. A companion or pasture home is strongly preferred, with her comfort and quality of life prioritized!
✅ Pros:
- Sound with no known lameness or ongoing medical issues
- Eats well, no issues with chewing
- Cross-ties well
- Has a lot of experience and rarely spooks
- Potential for occasional light, casual riding
- Silly personality and would make a good pasture pet
- Gets along with most horses, low on the mare totem and adores geldings
✋ Cons:
- Around 20 years old and beginning retirement
- Not suitable for beginners
- Harder keeper who needs daily and consistent feeding to maintain her weight (Would do great on a pasture she could freely eat!)
- Needs blanketing during colder weather
- Requires Dormosedan for farrier visits
- Does not tolerate enclosed shower stalls; bathing must be done outdoors or in an open area
Reason for selling: No fault of her own! I'm looking to move in a different riding direction, while allowing Millie to enjoy a comfortable retirement.
