Lightweight - child could carry but shelves hold heavy items. See photo - yellow laptop bag w old heavy laptop w clipboard, paperwork, cord, and clipboard inside. Heavy binder filled w paperwork, and black bag has modern laptop, cord, and files.
Shelves were arranged as 2 vertical equal shelves. Took apart to move and clean. Now can't remember how we put it together. 2 sizes of aluminum poles, 2 sizes fabric shelves, 2 widths of black connectors.
