Local IT Professional Needed for On-Site Computer Security Inspection
We are seeking an experienced local IT professional who can visit our location in person and perform a thorough security inspection of our computer.
We recently hired a developer to build an application for a movie studio project. The developer was given remote access to our computer through RustDesk or similar remote-access software. After we completed the agreed-upon payment and removed remote access, the developer deleted the application and its related files from the computer.
Our main concern is determining whether the developer left behind any software, unauthorized user accounts, hidden services, scheduled tasks, remote-access tools, or other methods that could allow them to regain access to the machine. We would also like the computer checked for malware, spyware, remote-access trojans, suspicious scripts, and any other security risks.
The computer currently appears to be operating normally. We have not noticed unusually high CPU usage, major performance issues, or any obvious signs of ongoing unauthorized activity. We have also performed some basic checks using information found online, but we are not confident that the system is completely secure. We need someone with professional experience who can inspect it properly and explain what they find.
The inspection should ideally include:
Checking for unauthorized remote-access software
Reviewing installed programs and active processes
Examining startup applications, background services, and scheduled tasks
Checking user accounts and administrator permissions
Scanning for malware, spyware, and remote-access trojans
Reviewing network connections and firewall settings
Confirming whether RustDesk or any similar software was fully removed
Identifying any suspicious files, scripts, or system changes
Recommending the safest next steps if anything unusual is found
This must be an in-person visit. We cannot provide remote access because our concern is that the previous developer may still have a way to connect to the computer or interfere with it. We would prefer not to install or use any additional remote-access software until the machine has been inspected and secured.
Our budget for this service is approximately $40. We understand that professional IT services may normally cost more, but our budget is limited at this time. If you have the right experience and believe you can complete an initial inspection within this budget, please contact us.
When responding, please include your full name, phone number, relevant IT or cybersecurity experience, and your earliest availability. Preference will be given to someone who can visit as soon as possible.
If the $40 budget does not work for you, we completely understand, but please do not apply. Thank you for your time and consideration. We appreciate any qualified professional who can help us confirm that the computer is secure.
