Are you hardworking, dependable, and willing to learn? Do you enjoy working outdoors, taking on new challenges, and being part of a small team?
Jake's Horses is a family-owned and operated outfitting business in Big Sky, Montana, looking for motivated individuals to join our winter crew.
We're looking for a jack-of-all-trades!
Winter at Jake's Horses involves a little bit of everything. One day you might feed horses, fix fences, and maintain equipment. The next you could be plowing snow or guiding visitors on a winter horseback ride.
What you'll be doing:
š“ Feeding, watering, and caring for horses
āļø Snowplowing during winter storms
š§ General ranch maintenance and basic mechanical work
š Operating trucks, tractors, and equipment
š Preparing and driving trucks and horse trailers
šļø Guiding winter horseback rides and working with guests
š³ Handling guest payments and paperwork
What we're looking for:
ā¢ Strong work ethic, reliability, and accountability.
ā¢ Self-motivation and the ability to work without constant supervision.
ā¢ A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
ā¢ Comfort working outdoors in Montana's winter weather.
ā¢ Flexibility to work early mornings and respond to snowstorms, even on regularly scheduled days off.
ā¢ Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
Experience is preferred, but not required!
We're happy to train the right person in horsemanship, guiding, snowplowing, and truck/trailer operation.
What matters most is showing up, working hard, retaining what you learn, and taking pride in doing a job well.
Compensation and Schedule
š° Salaried position based on a 22-day work month
āļø $50 per hour for snowplowing
šµ $20 daily bonus for eligible workdays
š“ Opportunity to earn tips while guiding
š Flexible monthly scheduling, with required snowstorm availability
š Employee housing is not provided
First Aid and CPR certification is required before you can guide independently. First-time certification must be completed in person. Employees are responsible for certification costs.
