This is a 1/32 scale model of a Lockheed Vega airplane (and also a bank). It is made of diecast metal and was manufactured in 1994. It is in absolute mint condition. It has never been used as a bank or played with by children. The wheels roll and the prop spins, the windshield is removable to deposit a coin inside (if you so desire). The models were manufactured for Liberty Classics and distributed by Spec Cast of Dyersville, Iowa. Manufacture was limited to 5000 units only. Each model was individually numbered. A brief history for your interest: Lockheed Vega airplanes were built from 1927 to 1932. Total production was 132. At their inception they were one of the fastest airplanes in the world. They set many speed and endurance records. Amelia Earhart became the first woman to solo the Atlantic Ocean in one and Wiley Post flew his twice around the world. Both of their planes are in the Smithsonian. About the color scheme: The Olympia beer company was in business from 1896 to 1983 when it was purchased by Pabst Brewing Company.
