I grew up in Japan, then spent years living in the U.S. — long enough to know that "no" in Japanese business meetings and "no" in American ones are not the same word, even when they technically are. As a professional interpreter for companies operating between the two countries, I've spent my career in the gap where language fails and culture has to fill in the blanks.
Now I teach that gap.
