DS-16 Schwill Sailboat - The DS-16 is a Canadian trailerable sailboat designed by G. Diller and Herman Schwill and first built in 1970 by DS Yachts (also known as Schwill Yachts) in Odessa, Ontario. Built predominantly of fiberglass with wood trim, the boat features a fractional sloop rig, a transom-hung rudder, and a hull length of 16.00 ft (4.88 m). It displaces 500 lb (227 kg) and carries 135 lb (61 kg) of ballast, this one has a centerboard which rotates into position when sailing - Production of the DS-16 spanned several decades, with the company officially ceasing operations in 1986 but reportedly continuing production of the DS-16 model until 1992. The boat is known for its durability, ease of handling by a single person, and towability behind compact cars, making it a popular choice for recreational sailing and club racing on the Great Lakes and Canadian inland waters.
