Mom worked at Anaheim Stadium & so I received 2 baseballs when I was too young to know that they would be worth something someday.
1. I was at a doubleheader between the A's & Angels on Sunday, July 20, 1969 celebrating my 9th birthday. Man walked on the moon for the first time that day - the game stopped, the crowd rose & gave a 3 or 4-minute standing ovation.
Joe DiMaggio was a coach on the A's staff & my uncle, a cameraman working the game, approached him for an autograph.
$260
2. The other ball was given to me the next year in 1970 & includes the names of 17 players, a Coach & the Manager at the time (19 signatures total) -
Jim Fregosi, Alex Johnson, Jay Johnstone, Ken McMullen, Ken Tatum, Roger Repoz, Eddie Fisher, Mel Queen, Billy Cowan, Tom Reynolds, Jarvis Tatum, Steve Kealey, Ray Oyler, Coach Norm Sherry & Manager, Lefty Phillips (& 4 others)
$47
