hi - i am looking to start a forró band for live gigs - accordeon player (or rabeca), a soprano sax, percussionist and zabumba to play live!
i play soprano saxophone, have been working on covers from old school forro standards, including some instrumental songs like Batuque Destemperado e Ovo. I could sing a bit and support with triangle too or light percussion. The focus of this project would be on arrangement of known forró songs and on developing/writing others for gigging and recording (live music has been, to me, always part of the magic of forró (and other folk music)).
I have a little bit of a jazz background, am from brasil and play bossa and a bit of jazz too, lived however most of my life abroad.
PS: for a few years i played in a duo with an accordeon player and we always wanted to expand, but sadly he left berlin and I focused then on other projects where I play rock guitar.
Do get in touch if you are serious about being in a forró group and ready to start working on songs and playing! For the band I would have a place to rehearse, which we would share.
