Do you have a blue-collar work background, a knack for dealing with people, and a get-it-done attitude?
We need temporary winter operations help at our shop in Forest Lake, Minnesota. Seasonal workers laid off for the winter are encouraged to apply.
You’ll work alongside our operations lead in an emergency-service business. During busy periods, 30 or more subcontractors come and go with trucks covered in snow and ice. They need payment, equipment repairs, and steamers ready so they can get back on the road and to their next job.
This is a very high-stress environment that moves extremely fast. Phones ring constantly, plans change, and you’re helping solve one problem after another. We call it organized chaos, and sometimes it’s just chaos. You should enjoy being in the middle of the action and be attracted to the chaos of this position.
THE WORK
We need someone who stays calm, takes initiative, works well with people, and keeps track of details through constant interruptions and chaos. Basic computer skills are required. You must work quickly without getting careless, especially with money and payment information.
Experience in construction, trucking, towing, snow removal, equipment rental, or a busy shop would be helpful (especially if you’ve also handled customers, crews, dispatch, or paperwork).
HOURS AND PAY
This is temporary, weather-dependent work, usually lasting no more than two months. Our workload depends on major winter storms around the country. The start date, hours, and length of the assignment are not guaranteed.
During busy weeks, work can start as early as 6 a.m. and run as late as midnight. Emergency work means long, intense hours during certain weeks. Tell us any limits on your availability.
Pay varies based on your skills, experience, and other factors.
HOW TO APPLY
A résumé is welcome, but it does not replace your written introduction. One-line replies and résumé-only responses will not be considered. We expect many replies and won’t have time to chase down missing information.
We'll be expecting you to sell contractors on coming to work for us, so start by selling yourself in this reply. :o)
We may contact applicants later as winter demand develops. Be sure to include BOTH your phone number and email address.
IF THIS JOB IS FOR YOU, YOUR ONLY REGRET WILL BE THAT YOU DIDN'T FIND US SOONER!
