Birch is 50% Alpine, 50% Nigerian Dwarf, and from ADGA registered parents. She can potentially be registered with the Miniature Dairy Goat Association (MDGA). Of all the goat kids that were born on our farm this year, she’s the only one I have not had to deworm - she’s naturally very hardy! She maintains a good weight with only grass, the occasional grain, free-choice loose minerals, and water. Her dam has similar traits, which is why she’s the backbone of my small alpine dairy herd.
Due to life circumstances, I did not socialize with her after she was born as I normally do, and as such her only flaw is that she can occasionally be a little nervous around humans. I fully believe she can be won over with lots of treats and patience. For this reason however, she will be available at a lower price.
I would love to keep this girl and work with her myself, as her qualities are exactly what I want in my herd. Unfortunately for me, I no longer have a mini/dwarf buck to breed her to, and I don’t want to risk her accidentally being bred by our large alpine bucks. My loss, your gain! She has been disbudded and will be hoof-trimmed before she leaves our farm.
One last note: goats are herd animals and need to be around their own kind to thrive. For this reason, I will prioritize homes that already have goats or are planning on adding additional goats ASAP.
