1998 Honda VT1100 ACE - "American Classic Edition”. 37,322 miles. Clear title, new tabs good until Sept. 2027.
I have owned this since 2016 and have put less than 3500 miles on it in the last 10 years. Started regularly and kept “current”. Typical Honda, always starts right up. Very clean and well cared for.
OEM charging system was a mistake on Honda’s part. System would only charge at ~12.2v at RPM, and as hard as the starter pulls to turn this over when cold, the OEM battery wouldn’t always have enough to fire it off. First step - replaced the rectifier regulator with an aftermarket MOSFET replacement. See www.roadstercycle.com. Now charges up over 14.0v. Second, replaced OEM traditional battery with AGM. See www.fullriverbattery.com. Third, bowls on carbs would dry out over time, and the fuel pump only runs when it's turning over - wasting CCAs to get the bowls in the carbs full again before it could even think of starting. Solved by adding a weather proof momentary switch providing diode isolated 12v to the fuel pump. Turn the fuel on, and hold the button - you can hear the pump run and stop when the carbs are “primed”. Give her some choke, ignition on, and she takes right off.
Had a friend following me one night and reported the tail/brake light isn't much and hard to see. Fixed that with an LED module that fit inside the OEM housing. Brake light will pulse a few times before staying solid.
New tires, front and rear brakes (pads & rotors). Also just replaced battery, and I'll include a battery tender I wired in a pigtail for. Includes factory Owners Manual and tool kit, Service Manual, soft trunk that velcro wraps to backrest. I'll also thro in the scissor jack I bought as it does not have a center stand. I think someone makes one that will fit it - Honda did not include one.
