This is an old, retired marching band instrument. Valves are smooth. Sound is fine. Slides are stuck but should be pulled with some work, cleaned, and greasing. The finish is pretty ratty but if you want that tenor trumpet sound and action, the price is tough to beat.
Bought it as a private joke. Played it for a while and love the sound. I would need to go back to the Gym to get upper body stamina, no kidding. But if you want a horn that looks Trumpet-ish, that is the functional equivalent to a valve trombone (albeit a thicker more Baritone like sound) THIS IS IT. I've never refinished an instrument but I would be tempted to strip the varnish and polish it up if I were still playing.
It's a Blessing, manufactured in Elkhart Indiana back in the day and still sounds terrific (I just played a couple of notes for old times sake). I call the condition GOOD because it plays so well. Your opinion may vary but the pictures don't lie.
