Buffet Crampon Bb soprano professional clarinet. Made of grenadilla wood. Made in France. Upper joint, lower joint, barrel, and bell all have the Buffet Crampon logo with MADE IN FRANCE stenciled on the bottom of the logo. Serial number is in the 48XXX series and is stamped on the upper and lower joints. No mouthpiece is included. Comes in a Protec 'PRO-PAC' compact clarinet case with a zippered front accessory pouch. From serial number look up charts, this clarinet is estimated to have been made in 1954. It has been serviced for the following work: cleaning, all pads replaced, wood treated and restored with almond oil, keys polished, key screws and rods oiled, key bumpers replaced as needed, and play tested. All notes can be played and heard clearly. No cracks seen on the clarinet bodies. The key plating is German Silver which is unplated and typical of Buffet Crampon clarinets at that time of production (1954). Plating is in really good condition. I don't see any plate loss on the typical places where you would expect them to be (ie register key, G#/Ab key, left and right hand pinky keys).

My technician describes this as a transitional Buffet R13 model. Not an official R13 but it has many R13 traits like the wing shaped bridge key, wood cutouts below the crow's foot at the lower joint, and the barrel shaped trill guide key at the upper joint. It is also polycylindrical like a R13 with bore measurements of 14.75 mm at the top of the upper joint and 14.65 mm at the bottom of the upper joint.

Overall - a really very good clarinet.
