About Farming Turtles:
Farming Turtles is a year-round, organic microgreen farm in Exeter, RI, where innovation, sustainability, quality, and food safety come together to deliver premium greens to distributors, supermarkets, and restaurants. Our team is passionate, hardworking, and collaborative, and we pride ourselves on offering a workplace where autonomy, skill development, and growth are the norm, not the exception.
Working here is nothing like an office job. No cubicles. No sitting at a desk for 40+ hours a week chained to a screen. Instead, you'll experience the energy, variety, and satisfaction of being part of a living, growing, thriving operation where your work has a direct impact on the quality of the products we deliver to our customers every day.
The Opportunity:
We're seeking a Packing Supervisor to help lead the day-to-day operation of our Packing Department and Packing Coolers.
This is a hands-on leadership position. The Packing Supervisor works alongside the Packing Team while providing the organization, direction, quality control, and oversight necessary to ensure customer orders are packed accurately, safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
You'll be responsible for helping coordinate daily production, monitoring product and packaging inventory, maintaining our high quality and food safety standards, training and supporting Packing Associates, and communicating with Cultivation and Management to make sure the right products are available to fulfill customer orders.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems, staying organized, and taking ownership of an important part of a growing agricultural business.
What You'll Do:
Oversee the daily operation and workflow of the Packing Department and Packing Coolers
Work alongside Packing Associates to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and according to pickup and delivery schedules
Train, support, and provide day-to-day direction to Packing Associates
Maintain high standards for product quality, appearance, accuracy, and food safety
Perform and oversee quality-control inspections of microgreens and baby greens before packing
Review available product inventory and determine the quantities needed to fulfill scheduled orders
Communicate product needs, shortages, or quality concerns with the Cultivation Team and Management
Monitor inventory of packaging materials, labels, boxes, containers, and other department supplies
Ensure Packing and Blending Logs, batch information, dates, inventory records, and other required documentation are completed accurately
Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe Packing Department
Ensure established sanitation procedures, GMPs, SSOPs, SOPs, and other Farming Turtles food safety requirements are consistently followed
Help identify opportunities to improve department efficiency, workflow, quality, and organization
Communicate employee, production, quality, inventory, or operational concerns to Management
Assist in other areas of the operation when needed
What We're Looking For:
A dependable, organized individual who is comfortable taking responsibility for a department and its daily workflow
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing a consistently high-quality product
Ability to lead by example and work alongside the team rather than simply directing others
Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with employees, Cultivation, Management, and other departments
Ability to prioritize multiple customer orders and production requirements throughout the day
Comfortable working independently and making appropriate day-to-day operational decisions
Ability to maintain accurate inventory, production, batch, and food safety records
Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working in a refrigerated packing environment maintained at approximately 45–50°F
Willingness to learn Farming Turtles' food safety, quality-control, sanitation, and production procedures
Reliable transportation to our Exeter, RI farm
Previous supervisory, food production, packing, warehouse, agriculture, restaurant, or food-service experience is helpful, but we also value demonstrated leadership ability, reliability, organization, and a willingness to learn.
