Third owner selling after owning since 2003.
If you haven't ever been on an E27, and are looking for one of the best from the era of, "classic plastic," this is the one. It is ready-to-sail today, even though it could use a fresh coat of bottom paint...
Priced to sell, and sail, at $3500.
The Ericson 27 is well-regarded for its speed, handling, and comfortable cruising interior, making it a popular choice among smaller sailboats from the 1970s. While not known to be a, "race boat," the low-draft keel allows an upwind advantage in the shallows of the river during the Log Dodge. This boat will sail where a six-foot keel cannot. It crews well with 2 or 3. Sails well in light wind if crew can sit still. Performs best with weight centered forward. Points relatively high. Balances beautifully. Tiller can be tied off and it will sail itself under the right wind. Handles rough water and chop best under sail as opposed to motor.
Currently located at the Everett Marina, South Docks. Moorage can be continued.
The Good:
> As-is: Sail-able, Serviceable, and ready to go.
> Hull: Excellent condition. No blisters. Taken down to glass in 2016. 3 coats of barrier coat, and 2 coats ablative paint. Inspected / Painted again in 2022. Still in perfect condition with no history or sign of blistering.
> Interior: Very good condition
> Motor: 1998 9.9 Evinrude - Low hours. Perfect condition. Lower unit repainted with anti-corrosion primer coats and matched OEM enamel. Professionally serviced at Cascade Marine. Runs perfectly.
> Sails: New main in 2021. Rest of sail plan is older, but still serviceable.
The Bad:
> Stations - Port-Aft > Bent, but serviceable. Port-Beam: dislodged from base, needs to be re-affixed. No damage to glass... Reattach and seal. This damaged occurred, presumably, by the neighboring vessel at some point while at dock. I discovered this just recently. There is no other damage.
The Ugly:
> Kerosene OEM heater. Does not currently work, nor personally would I want it too.
> Guzzler: Manual bilge pump, not currently working. Easily serviced with repair kit.
> Sail cover: Faded
> Sitting at dock for a while. Needs a coat of paint.
> Electrics: Working, but old wiring. Could use new wiring. OEM anchor light not working.
> Needs paint.
If I were keeping it (which I keep thinking about... I love this boat), I would pull it out, take it to the same repair guy over in the yard who last painted it, and have him fix the stantions, and repaint. I have an LED masthead light as well, that I would have mounted. Ericson has a great community, and many of these beautiful boats are still in service and in great condition.
