As lovely to sail as she is to look at, The Bristol 32 by Ted Hood is a classic. Mostly found on the east coast, this boat was sold on Lake Union in 1975 and has had only three owners. Nicknamed the poor mans Hinkley, she has features not found in many boats of her size. 100 gallons of water storage for example and lots of cabin storage as well.

From Puget Sound to Desolation Sound, we have done what we want with Lillian T since 2011 and now the grand children are our focus. Here are some details.

Engine: Universal M4-30 with 3760 hours. Fuel consumption is .4 gal/hr. Fuel capacity 17 gallons.

Sails: a crisp North main with two reef points and a five year old Doyle headsail on a roller furler. A spinnaker is included. There is a whisker pole for the headsail.

Cockpit: Depth, speed, tach and wind are located on the cabin bulkhead in view of the helm. At the wheel steering pedestal is a Garmin Echomap Plus 74sv chart plotter, Raymarine Wheel Pilot and pedestal mounted compass. Radar on a pole aft with the screen near the companionway. Lazarettes are port and starboard, and the aft lazarette contains the manual backup bilge pump. Rail mounted twin 1.5 gallon LP tanks and two 50 watt solar panels round out the equipment. There is a folding bimini with windows.

Salon: Port settee extends for a generous adult berth with a seat width berth to starboard. The Vberth forward sleeps two. A hanging locker is opposite the port side head. A Dickinson heater is on a bulkhead to starboard. Lots of storage behind and above seatbacks as well as behind drawers. All lights in the salon are LED.

Galley: Pressure hot and cold water at a single bowl sink, a Dickinson Mediterranean model LP range with solenoid shutoff switch. A reinsulated 7 cubic foot icebox is to starboard.

Head: When sold new, one could discharge black water overboard. A 5 gallon Porta Potti now serves those needs and for us it has been quite manageable. The shower grey water is pumped overboard by a diaphragm pump controlled as needed by a switch in the head.

Ground tackle: Primary anchor, 30lb CQR with 100ft 5/16 chain and 200' nylon line. There are two 25lb danforth backukps. Anchor winch is a manual Lofrans.

Electrical: Start Battery is 12v lead acid maintenance free. The house bank has two 100 amp hour 6v deep cycle lead acid golf cart batteries charged by two 50 watt Renogy solar panels each with a dedicated Victron MPPT charge controller. Since installation of the solar we have never run the engine to charge the house bank.
