2004 Subaru Outback with 189k miles, well maintained and mechanically excellent. I have owned it since 2019 and have put 90k miles on it, it’s a safe and reliable vehicle. I just did a west coast road trip this summer and wouldn’t hesitate to take it across the country tomorrow. I recently purchased a newer forester with a manual and I don’t need this outback otherwise I’d keep it.
All work has been done by Subaru specialists or dealerships the entire time I’ve owned it. Recent work includes:
At 166,000 miles:
Head gaskets (stainless mls turbo gaskets)
Timing pulleys and belt
Spark plugs and coil pack
Radiator
Coolant service
At 179,000 miles:
Front and rear brake calipers and pads
Transmission service
Tires have just under 25000 miles on them so plenty of life left. Always full synthetic oil changes every 5000 miles and always maintained on schedule. Aftermarket Kenwood stereo with Bluetooth/hands free/aux/device charging. There are plenty of little paint scrapes and scratches as it’s a 20 year old car but under the hood she’s excellent and got a lot of life left in her.
