Looking for a special person with a cooperative, calm, responsible personality for part time caregiving for a progressively disabling man. We are looking for someone caring, thoughtful, creative and comfortable with all aspects of caregiving. Experience helpful but heart based caring for someone and ability to learn is imperative.
Pay is $20/hr to start. Currently the open shifts are for a Friday or Sunday for about 12-14 hours.
Meal prep is part of the job, with a heavy leaning to the more simply, healthy foods. Salads, chiicken, tofu, potatoes, rice, pancakes, fruit. Vegetarian cooking an option for those who don’t eat meat but meat is prepared in the house by other caregivers.
The location is 6 miles from the southwest edge of Eugene out Lorane Highway. 15 minutes from groceries (Walmart, Fred Myers, Bi-mart) There is a trailer that can be available once the fit with everyone is established. This is a team effort to meet the needs of a 74 year old sweetheart of a man who needs waking hours care. Hours negotiable. Other jobs available. (Yard work, home maintenance). The house is a simple, no frills house that was mid remodel when illness struck. But it’s warm and functional. His diagnosis is Pseudo Nuclear Palsy. A harsh outcome after a lifetime of diligently taking good care of himself.
The goal as a caregiver is to take the load off him while his body falls apart and to have someone close if something comes up. He is a proud man with a rye sense of humor and does not wallowing in self-pity. He still tries to do what he can and is grateful for all the help. He watches TV or birds out the window most of the day. Little outings are welcome. He will not ask for anything so the task requires caregivers who are attentive and creative in figuring out what he needs.
Perfume and smoke free house (allergies). No cigarette smoking on the property or drugs. Outdoor only vaping ok. Light alcohol use only between work and none while working.
Located in a quiet area with a wildlife sanctuary across the road. 9 acre of land that shares a driveway with friendly and helpful neighbors.
