This stunning 7-piece set includes the iconic Anchor Hocking Royal Ruby Ball Pitcher (also known as the "Tilted Roly Poly Pitcher") and six matching Royal Ruby High Point Juice Glasses. Produced in the mid-20th century, this set exemplifies the bold elegance of Depression-era and postwar American glass design.

Condition:
Excellent vintage mint condition. No chips or cracks. Glossy finish with rich ruby red hue. The set displays beautifully.
About the Maker:
Founded in 1905 as the Hocking Glass Company in Lancaster, Ohio, the firm became Anchor Hocking after merging with the Anchor Cap and Closure Corporation in 1937. Known for durable, stylish glassware, Anchor Hocking introduced its first pressed glass dinnerware in 1928 and became a household name with lines like Fire-King and Royal Ruby.
Pattern & Glass History:
The Royal Ruby line debuted in 1938 and remained in production into the 1960s. Its deep red hue was achieved using selenium and cadmium-based formulas, creating a rich, translucent finish. The Ball Pitcher design, with its rounded body and tilted spout, became a mid-century icon. The High Point Juice Glasses feature a faceted lower half and smooth upper rim, adding texture and visual interest.
Depression Glass Context:
Depression glass was mass-produced from the late 1920s through the 1940s to boost consumer morale during economic hardship. While most Depression glass was pastel-colored and inexpensive, Royal Ruby stood out for its saturated color and upscale appeal. Anchor Hockingβs ruby red pieces bridged the Depression and postwar eras, remaining popular through the 1950s.
