Position Overview
We are looking for a motivated and dependable Security and Structured Cabling Systems Technician & Sales Representative to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who has experience installing and servicing security systems and is also comfortable meeting customers, developing relationships, and helping the company generate new business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and servicing security cameras, alarm systems, access-control systems, and related low-voltage equipment as well of the design and installation of structured cable systems. In addition, this person will actively look for new customers and opportunities to grow the company's security business.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Technical Work
• Install and configure security camera/CCTV systems.
• Install and service alarm systems.
• Install access-control systems, including card readers, keypads, and electronic locks.
• Install and terminate low-voltage and network cabling.
• Configure cameras, recording systems, alarms, and networking equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment, wiring, network, and system issues.
• Perform service calls, repairs, upgrades, and system maintenance.
• Test systems and make sure installations are operating properly.
• Explain system operation to customers and provide basic training.
• Maintain accurate service and installation records.
• Follow company safety procedures and professional installation standards.
Sales & Business Development
• Identify potential residential and commercial customers.
• Visit local businesses and introduce the company's security services.
• Develop relationships with business owners, property managers, contractors, and other potential customers.
• Generate leads for camera, alarm, access-control, and monitoring services.
• Follow up with potential customers and existing leads.
• Schedule appointments and conduct customer consultations.
• Help prepare estimates and proposals.
• Follow up on proposals until the customer makes a decision.
• Look for opportunities to upgrade or expand existing customer systems.
• Develop recurring service and maintenance accounts.
• Represent the company professionally at all times.
Qualifications
Required
• Previous experience installing or servicing security cameras, alarms, access control, or low-voltage systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical, networking, and low-voltage problems.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily assignments.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Willingness to actively participate in sales and business development.
Preferred
• Experience with IP cameras and NVR/DVR systems.
• Experience with access-control systems.
• Experience with intrusion alarm systems.
• Knowledge of networking, routers, switches, and PoE equipment.
• Low-voltage installation experience.
• Previous security-system sales experience.
• Existing relationships with contractors, businesses, property managers, or other commercial customers.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
