Mismatched but charming! This set includes four vintage Eames fiberglass side chairs from a variety of production eras, each with its own character.
The two orange chairs are both "Red Orange," though one has faded more than the other. The more faded example is a first-generation Zenith production chair, while the more vibrant orange is from a later production run. The Zenith chair also features a more pronounced fiberglass pattern, which is characteristic of early production chairs and adds quite a bit of charm. The two yellow chairs are either "Lemon Yellow" or "Yellow", I'm not 100% certain. I purchased these two separately, but the color is very consistent across the pair.
All four chairs have been thoroughly cleaned and refinished, restoring their original shine. Each chair has been fitted with a matching reproduction Eiffel base and brand-new shock mounts. This is an important upgrade, as the original mounts on chairs of this age are often dried out and prone to failure. I've performed this repair on many chairs over the years and consider it an essential upgrade if you plan to use them regularly.
I've collected and restored quite a few of these fiberglass chairs over the years, and I've simply accumulated more than I can use. I'd love to see this set go to a new home where they'll be enjoyed.
Also happy to consider trades for other mid-century modern furniture! What do you have?
