DTD Developments Ltd. is seeking an experienced Site Foreman to join our team on a low-rise, wood-frame multi-family residential project over a concrete parkade in Duncan, BC.
Working directly under the Site Superintendent, the Site Foreman will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the project, coordinating trades, maintaining site organization, monitoring quality and safety, and keeping construction moving according to schedule.
This is not strictly a labour or working-foreman position. We are looking for someone with the experience, judgment, and leadership ability to take control of day-to-day site operations when the Site Superintendent is off site.
The Role
The Site Foreman will work closely with and report to the Site Superintendent, assisting with the execution and coordination of construction activities from active construction through completion and turnover.
Key responsibilities include:
Support the Site Superintendent with day-to-day management and coordination of the construction site.
Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, deliveries, equipment, and site logistics.
Direct trades and site personnel to maintain productivity and construction sequencing.
Understand the project schedule and help ensure trades are meeting required milestones and commitments.
Assume responsibility for site operations when the Site Superintendent is off site, including directing trades, coordinating work, addressing immediate issues, and maintaining safety and productivity.
Review drawings and specifications and ensure work is being completed in accordance with project requirements.
Identify potential conflicts, deficiencies, and constructability issues and bring them to the Site Superintendent's attention before they impact the project.
Monitor workmanship and assist with quality-control inspections throughout construction.
Assist with coordination of concrete, framing, building envelope, mechanical, electrical, finishing, and other trade scopes.
Coordinate and verify deliveries, material staging, access, housekeeping, and site logistics.
Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional construction site.
Enforce site safety requirements and ensure subcontractors and workers comply with project and WorkSafeBC requirements.
Assist with consultant, municipal, and other required inspections.
Track deficiencies and follow up with trades to ensure timely completion.
Communicate daily progress, trade issues, manpower concerns, delays, and upcoming requirements to the Site Superintendent.
Assist with site documentation, including daily reports, photographs, delivery records, and inspection records.
Perform hands-on construction work where required to keep the project moving.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will ideally have:
5+ years of construction experience, preferably in multi-family residential construction.
Previous experience as a Site Foreman, Assistant Superintendent, Lead Hand, or similar construction leadership role.
Strong experience with wood-frame construction.
Experience with concrete foundations and parkade construction is an asset.
Ability to read and understand architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing and trade coordination.
Practical knowledge of building envelope, framing, finishing, and general construction practices.
Knowledge of BC construction practices, building codes, and WorkSafeBC requirements.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with trades, consultants, suppliers, and management.
Ability to identify issues early and make practical decisions in the field.
Valid driver's licence.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who wants to be more than an extra set of hands on site.
The right candidate should be capable of operating as the Site Superintendent's second-in-command. When the Superintendent is present, you will help coordinate and execute the plan. When the Superintendent is away from site, you must be comfortable stepping up, making decisions within your authority, directing trades, and keeping the project moving.
You should be someone who:
Takes ownership and follows through on commitments.
Understands what needs to happen next rather than waiting to be told.
Is comfortable directing and holding subcontractors accountable.
Recognizes problems early and communicates them immediately.
Can distinguish between issues that can be resolved in the field and those that need to be escalated.
Maintains high standards for safety, quality, organization, and productivity.
Leads by example and is willing to be hands-on when required.
Is interested in developing toward a Site Superintendent position as their experience and responsibilities grow.
