These frames are the output of True North Goodwill's (TNG) 501c3 non-profit mattress recycling program. For 22 years, TNG has operated one of the two major mattress recycling programs in Minnesota, recycling 10,000-20,000 mattresses a year, reducing the pressure on our local landfills and providing new life to steel, wood, and foam materials.
In 2025 alone, TNG recycled 9,784 mattresses reclaiming 86 tons (190,413lbs) of steel and 36 tons (80,028lbs) of foam. The steel is recycled back into commodity steel here in Duluth and foam is turned into carpet underlayment in eastern Wisconsin.
