Remember music class, story time, or the rainy-day record in the classroom? This is the player that sat on the cart! A 1970s Newcomb EDT-12P classroom phonograph, built like a tank in Sylmar, California, to survive years of kids, teachers and school hallways. This one has a real story to go with it.
HISTORY:
This player was sold by Thompson Movie Service & Supply on Airport Road in Panama City, FL (their dealer tag is still on the deck) to Holy Nativity Episcopal School in Panama City. The school's name is still hand-marked on the bottom/side of the case, dated what looks like 12/84. A genuine piece of Gulf Coast school history.
FEATURES:
- Built-in amp and speaker, just plug it in and play, no other equipment needed
- Plays 33, 45 and 78 records with the flip stylus
- Plays stereo and mono records (mono output)
- Newcomb "Pausemaster" power knob: Off / On / Pause, with a brake that stops the platter instantly (teachers loved it)
- Tone and volume controls
- Headphone / external speaker jack
- Power cord stores inside the case
- Original operating instructions still inside the lid
- Newcomb "N" badges on the lid and speaker grille
- Classic woodgrain case with mustard-yellow deck, pure 70s
CONDITION:
Cleaned up and tested, and it works perfect. It sounds great and runs at speed. Honest disclosure: there was some light surface rust on the deck that I cleaned off, but the paint isn't perfect in that spot. Otherwise it shows normal age and wear for a 50-year-old school player.
Great for collectors, teachers, anyone who grew up with one of these in class, or anyone who wants a simple, tough record player with a story.
Price is $150 obo, and if you want to offer less, that's fine, but consider adding something in trade to offset the difference, or I'll trade for same-value beef, hair sheep "I need a Ram", or electronics like stereo receivers speakers especially Bose, Cerwin Vega’s, computers, stereo gear, drones, or items useful on my farm or for defense (you know what I mean)!
