About Wagner Ware & Magnalite:
The Wagner Manufacturing Company was founded in 1891 in Sidney, Ohio. Wagner became famous for its high-quality cast iron and aluminum cookware.
In 1934, Wagner introduced Magnalite – their premium line of cast aluminum alloy cookware (magnesium + aluminum). It was revolutionary for its time because it heated more evenly than thin steel pots, wouldn't rust like cast iron, and was much lighter to handle. The thick cast walls and polished interior made it a favorite for serious home cooks for decades.
The "Sidney-O" marking on the bottom dates this piece to the classic Wagner era before the company was sold in the late 1950s/60s. These early Magnalite pieces are the most sought-after by collectors and users alike.
