Walkthrough
Stepping aboard ‘FLEET’ via the opening gates in her transom or from the starboard side deck you know immediately you are on a proper and substantial vessel. The optional stern bustle increases the waterline length, improving efficiency, speed, buoyancy and comfort while underway or at anchor and it makes getting in and out of the tender easier and safer. Aft of the stern bustle on the swim platform there is a single chair and table. Both are removable for stowage during passagemaking. At a peaceful anchorage, there is no better spot on board if one wants solitude for a quiet morning coffee, or an afternoon gin and tonic. The current owner relishes this tranquil space, far from the operational duties of the vessel, and close to the water.
‘FLEET’s lower rear cockpit area is an inviting space that features teak decking, a table with cushioned bench seating, a built in wet bar cabinet containing a sink and BBQ grill, a custom cast ship’s bell and a starboard wing control station for docking.
Entering the salon through the extra-wide Dutch door, the wide-body design is noticeable from the ample beam of the salon and galley as is the increased amount of salon space due to the absence of a dry stack. One of ‘FLEET’s’ standout features is her wet exhaust which eliminates the requirement for a dry stack through the vessel. This opens up the salon and pilothouse, which allowed the designer to increase storage and living space, and increased salon and pilothouse usability and visibility. Compared to a standard Nordhavn 62 the increased space is significant and noticeable. In place of the stack, ‘FLEET’ has beautiful and useful teak lockers for storage of dishware and crystal. There is superb natural light through four extra-large windows with smaller mullions that greatly improving the amount of natural light and sense of space in the salon. This light helps to highlight the tasteful, updated and modern interior featuring stunning joinery and neutral colors. A large U- shaped settee to starboard with a convertible split table double as the ships hub for relaxing and the main indoor dining area onboard. The dining table is in two pieces with a third removable centrepiece. In place, six guests can dine comfortably and when removed there are two cocktail tables that “kneel” and lower, and come together to make a handsome coffee table. There is an entertainment centre and two Stressless lounge chairs to port then two bar stools at the galley counter forward, all surrounded by fine teak cabinetry. The new bound carpets throughout add an elegant feel allowing the traditional teak and holly soles to show around the perimeter.
The galley is a rectangular U-shape which increases the salon living space while providing a large fully equipped galley that is safe and easy to use while at anchor or underway. This purposeful designed accommodates all needed appliances, working surfaces, and storage lockers, with no compromise in storage, and there plenty of room for two people to work together in the galley. The galley equipped like a luxury home featuring 3 new stainless steel fridge/freezers, new Corian countertops, a new 4 burner gas Bosch cooktop, GE Profile microwave convection oven, double stainless steel sink, Miele dishwasher, GE Profile oven and a trash compactor. There is ample storage including a two appliance garages with electrical outlets to keep the counters clear.
Across from the galley to starboard is another Dutch door providing easy access to the side deck.
Solid teak steps with open risers and teak non-skid treads take you up to the pilothouse, arguably the heart of the vessel. There are TWO Stidd chairs in front of an impressive helm which is laid out in a ship like manner with commanding views all around. FLEET’s electronics were chosen for dependability, redundancy, ease of use, clarity, and world-wide service. The
components are state-of-the-art commercial units and there was a complete rewire of pilot house nav systems putting all systems on the new NEMA 2000 backbone. Behind the Stidd chairs is a large raised settee with a split teak table providing room for guest. A proper pilot berth with privacy curtain is aft of the settee allowing safe crew rest while shorthanded on long passages. There is abundant teak cabinetry and drawers to store all manner of pilothouse needs. The elimination of the dry stack exhaust and the absence of a day head provide an incredibly and surprisingly spacious area in the pilothouse. The space is bright and open, and is an inviting gathering space while underway, or at rest. The pilothouse has three sets of Dutch doors; port, starboard and aft. The door to the aft deck is unique and can easily become perhaps the most used door to the outside spaces.
Moving aft from the pilothouse the centrepiece is the ‘Al Fresco’ dining table with comfortable settees. Without the dry stack exhaust, all guests around the table can see each other! (in other vessels the dry stack cuts the aft-facing part of the settee in two). The Portuguese Bridge is reached moving forward down either side of the pilothouse and there is a ladder allowing access to the pilothouse roof and mast. The teak clad Portuguese Bridge has storage compartments and wing stations both port and starboard.
The foredeck can be reached from the Portuguese Bridge or the lower starboard deck. ‘FLEET’ carries a large RIB as tender with deck space for a second tender or sailing dinghy as well. The large crane makes launching and retrieval effortless. On the foredeck there is fender storage, room for toys, two large deck boxes, the tender crane, windlass and ground tackle access.
‘FLEET’ is comfortable at anchor for extended periods of time and the ground tackle was chosen for its dependability allowing restful sleeps.
On the main deck again, going forward from the galley and salon you enter the hallway to the accommodation spaces. The master suite is located midship in the center of the boat where movement is at a minimum underway, an important requirement when passagemaking to keep the captain and mate well rested. The master has a walk around queen size bed, book shelves, side tables, vanity, hanging lockers, hidden laundry hamper, ample teak cabinetry, and private ensuite head with a large stall shower. There is a vanity/dressing area to port with stainless steel swing out seat and a bench seat. The master is a luxurious, calming space with a surprising amount of natural light and plenty of cabinets and lockers.
Back in the hallway you pass the main electrical panels on starboard and continuing forward to port are a set of lockers used as the galley pantry and to starboard, a huge linen closet.
To starboard is the guest / day head, also with stall shower, then the VIP stateroom. This stateroom contains a large double berth with direct private access to the head.
Continuing forward to port is the laundry with stacked machines and integrated work table, all hidden behind teak doors that slide and lock for safety and convenience.
All the way forward is another guest cabin offering a twin berth to port and private head with stall shower forward. Within this cabin, separated by a solid teak pocket door, is a single private berth to starboard. Here in the bow there is access to fo’c’sle and chain locker.
AC and DC power services the vessel through circuit breaker panels with appropriate voltage and ampere gauges. 110VAC provided by 50 Amp shore connection (bow or stern), by 20 kW Northern Lights generator, or by the smaller 9kW generator, the hydraulic cruising generator, or available house bank battery power, through the stacked inverters. At sea, the batteries are charged by engine or generator driven alternators and while at a dock, by the inverters and chargers via shorepower.
The spacious (newly carpeted!) engine room allows good access on all sides of major systems with all equipment clearly labelled including machinery, equipment, tanks, hoses, thru-hulls and
