2003 Dodge Ram 2500 3/4 ton 4WD long bed truck, with camper shell, BedSlide, lumber rack and JetRack interior ladder rack.
I purchased this truck in 2006 with 90k miles and have put every single mile on it since then. I have extensive service records if interested. The truck had a custom transmission installed at 130k miles to replace the failed factory transmission. Now the truck has 330k miles and this transmission pulled it's last load, so the truck needs a new one. Currently, the forward clutch pack has burned out so the truck only drives in reverse but I can have it towed wherever you'd like within 100 miles. The engine is the original 5.9L Cummins diesel that is still going strong. As with any truck this age there are little things here and there. The dash is still intact but has some cracking. They make Dashskins to repair that for $150. The defroster works, but is temperamental and needs some love, the small motors that move the internal louvers are starting to fail, but heater works great. As can be seen from the photos, the clear coat has been receding, mostly on the hood and cab roof, but a little on the fenders as well. There is almost no rust, one little spot where there is a rock chip on the hood, but it is all surface rust and can be sanded off, no rust on the frame. The interior is in good shape, all seats are intact no tears or major cosmetic issues. Carpets are in pretty good shape, the only spot is some staining from a steering fluid leak that left a stain under the drivers floor mat. Otherwise all is in working order and looks great. Alpine stereo upgrade with Bluetooth, hands-free talking and USB charging.
The setup has an ARE custom Trasdesmen camper shell with tool shelves that I have used for parts (seen in pics). The inside of the bed area has a 1000lb rated BedSlide and a JetRack interior ladder rack that holds a 6' ladder. The lumber rack isn't much to look at but is still strong. I have carried full loads of 20' x 2" x 12" fir, 8" dia. x 20' galvanized steel pipe, 25' Class B wooden utility poles, etc. It has a tow package rated for the full 10k+ lb. towing capacity and has the trailer brake, ball and hitch, etc.
This truck has been a great truck for me and it pains me to list it, but since transitioning from full-time to part-time trades work as my career has evolved, it is hard for me to justify keeping it. It has sat for a couple months, but I start and run it weekly. For anyone interested I would clean it up nice, full wash and interior detail once I have removed all my tools, etc.
As far as the price is concerned, I believe $6k to be a fair starting price but will entertain offers. The engine itself, even with the mileage is worth $3-3,500, so you get the rest of the truck for $3-2,500. I have been quoted from $5-7,000 for a new transmission depending on what type you put back in. That range was for a non-stock upgrade installed, so not sure what the stock transmission would cost, but I would imagine no more and possibly less. If you are handy and/or a mechanic I'm pretty sure the stock transmission can be purchsaed for as little as $2,500. I believe for people who are familiar with these trucks, this year and engine in particular, they would agree it is a reasonable offer. Also, something to consider, for roughly $12K you could have a fully paid off and setup work rig that is a 3/4 ton. New trucks of this capability may have lots of bells and whistles but they will also cost you $70-90K.
Email me if interested, I can answer any questions or take other pics if you want. Serious inquiries only, if you are interested and have cash let me know and you can see it as is. If you want it and are ready to move forward I will wash it up and clear it out. (it is still holding all of my tools, etc.)
