The Rack by the Eave: Tall Nam Wah Bananas in Palm Harbor - $20 (Crystal Beach / Palm Harbor)

This Tall Nam Wah rack is hanging right by the eave here in Palm Harbor, and it's a good reminder of what this yard does: one corm here carried three racks at once on three separate stems, roughly 700 bananas on the plant at the same time. All of it grown on deep, free arborist wood-chip mulch — no fancy soil, just chips piled deep and left to do their work.
I always end up with more pups than I can plant. Banana pups are $20 each, and I can usually divide one off the mat if you'd rather grow your own.

Today's bit of banana wisdom:
Nutritional nugget: bananas bring potassium, vitamin B6, and fiber — good for blood pressure and steady energy, which is handy after a morning in the garden.
Try it: fried banana fritters (Kluay Tod). Thick batter, hot oil, ripe Nam Wah inside — gone in five minutes. Nam Wah holds its shape and turns silky-sweet in the fryer.
